Headaches & Migraines
treated with acupuncture, herbal medicine and massage
“If pain must come, may it come quickly. Because I have a life to live, and I need to live it in the best way possible.” Paulo Coelho
Pain relief is one of the most common reasons for receiving acupuncture. Headaches, migraines and chronic sinus pressure are usually branch symptoms resulting from an underlying imbalance in the body, such as dehydration, muscular tension, insufficient sleep, excessive exposure to light, caffeine withdrawal, stress or insufficient nutrition. Other factors like weather conditions, environmental factors, food additives, alcohol and even chocolate may contribute to the frequency and intensity of head pain.
Pain patterns from headaches and migraines can vary greatly for each individual. The diagnosis and treatment depends on whether the pain is experienced in the face, forehead, top or back of the head, behind the eyes or if it is one sided.
Acupuncture, massage therapy and Chinese herbal medicine are highly effective for treating headaches and migraines by addressing the root cause of the pain and correcting the underlying imbalance without unwanted side effects. By receiving acupuncture in conjunction with or as an alternative to pharmaceutical pain medications, one can avoid the undesirable side effects of constipation, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, sedation, clouded thinking, slowed breathing and addiction.
